Answers some pertinent questions….
What I get out of Rotary?
The enjoyment of being part of an international organisation that in different ways is trying to help create better living conditions for all people across the globe whether local or international. I like the chance to volunteer and physically get hands on with community projects with other like-minded members and raise money through fun events .
Why I am a member?
The Rotary club has given me the opportunity to gain different skills and take up leadership roles after training within the club and rotary district programs. I have be able to use these skills’ gained in my full time work environment for promotion and other community based involvement
Personal Improvement in different skill sets and increased knowledge of my own capabilities in a friendly environment without fear of failure was also an unexpected bonus that has come along with membership of the club
Being part of the club means, I am active and out in the community doing things and not sitting at home stuck on my computer and enjoying a wider circle of friendship activities through club member social events or Rotary programs
Why I come to meetings every week?
Due to working full time, I see the same people for long hours with my job and attending a meeting every week gives me time away to socialize with different faces and enjoy a social drink and meal and chat about fun stuff
I get to hear guest speakers on varied subjects whether it be Rotary programs or other community groups or members talking about their lives (behind the badge)
I have during the meeting a chance for a laugh and friendly interaction which I use as a circuit breaker in my busy normal life.
